Day-by-Day Highlights

Arrive at Paro International Airport. After immigration clearance, meet your guide and drive to Thimphu (approx. 1 hr).
En route visits:

  • Tachog Lhakhang, founded by Thangthong Gyalpo in the 15th century
  • Gagyul Lhundrup Weaving Centre
    Afternoon: Visit Tashichhoe Dzong (after 5 PM), housing His Majesty’s Secretariat and the Central Monk Body.
    Overnight in Thimphu.

Full-day cultural tour of Thimphu:

  • Memorial Chorten
  • Buddha Dordenma at Kuenselphodrang
  • Motithang Takin Preserve
  • Green Weaving Centre (Nettle weaving & dyeing)
    Optional: Visit Kaja Throm local farmers’ market or Craft Bazaar for traditional arts and crafts.
    Overnight in Thimphu.

Scenic drive over Dochula Pass (3,100m) offering panoramic views of the Himalayas and visit to the 108 Chortens.

  • Chimi Lhakhang, the fertility temple
  • Khamsum Yulley Namgyal Chorten (optional hike)
  • Bhutan’s longest suspension bridge
    Overnight in Punakha.

Visit Punakha Dzong, one of Bhutan’s most iconic fortresses.
Drive to Paro.

  • National Museum (Ta Dzong)
  • Rinpung Dzong
  • CSI Market – showcasing locally made Bhutanese products
    Overnight in Paro.

Acclimatization hike through forested trails near Kyichu Lhakhang (one of Bhutan’s oldest temples).
Drive to Gunitsawa and walk a short distance to Shana Campsite.
Overnight in tented camp.

Trek alongside the Paro Chhu through forests and into Jigme Dorji National Park.
Camp at Soi Thangthangkha (3,610m), with possible views of Mt. Chomolhari.
Overnight in tented camp.

Pass yak herder settlements and traditional villages like Soe and Takethang.
Arrive at Jangothang (4,090m), with striking views of Mt. Chomolhari (7,314m).
Overnight in tented camp.

Optional hikes to Tshophu Lake or ridges overlooking Chomolhari and Jichu Drake.
Opportunity for wildlife sightings (blue sheep) and high-altitude photography.
Overnight in tented camp.

Cross Bhonte La Pass (4,890m), the highest point of the trek.
Pass Tshophu Lake and descend to Dhumzo Chhu and Soi Yaksa (3,800m).
Overnight in tented camp.

Ascend gently over Takhung La Pass (4,520m), then descend into the yak pastures of Thombu Shong (4,180m).
Overnight in tented camp.

Trek over Thombu La Pass (4,380m) and descend to Gunitsawa Village.
Drive back to Paro by evening.
Overnight in Paro.

Hike to Bhutan’s most iconic monastery, Taktsang (Tiger’s Nest), perched on a 914m cliff.
Afternoon: Visit Kyichu Lhakhang, Drugyel Dzong, or enjoy a tasting session at Namgay Artisanal Brewery.
Overnight in Paro.

After breakfast, transfer to Paro International Airport for departure.
