BTCL Partners with De-suung Skilling Programme (DSP) to Empower a Skilled Bhutanese Workforce

The De-suung Skilling Programme (DSP), initiated under His Majesty’s Secretariat, aims to cultivate a skilled and self-reliant generation of Bhutanese through specialized training across critical sectors.

CSR with Purpose:
Investing in People, Not Just Profits

Our responsibility to the nation extends beyond our role as a tourism leader- we are also here to uplift people, empower youth, and give back to the nation that sustains us.

In line with our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)– which is embedded into our core business philosophy, BTCL joins this national mission as a partner offering both internship pathways and employment opportunities to De-suups graduating from DSP’s hospitality-related modules.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed with the De-suung Skilling Programme (DSP) on 18th June 2025, formalizing our commitment to actively support and empower youth trained in tourism, culinary arts, and hospitality-thereby contributing meaningfully to Bhutan’s long-term human capital development.

Through this formal partnership, BTCL is committed to:

  • Facilitating on-the-job training and internships within its hospitality establishments.
  • Creating avenues for gainful employment.
  • Supporting professional skill development by integrating De-suups into real-world tourism workflows.
  • Strengthening the public–private partnership model to advance Bhutan’s human resource development.

Our Broader Vision for CSR

This collaboration is not symbolic—it is deeply practical. BTCL will host Desuup interns at its properties (BHR – Bhutan Hotels and Restaurants), and provide mentoring and supervision to ensure these young Bhutanese professionals gain not only experience but also workplace confidence and cultural finesse.

This partnership with DSP allows BTCL to play an active role in shaping the future of Bhutan’s tourism workforce—grounded in skill, service, and national pride.”

BTCL: Official Travel Partner of Drukyul’s Literature & Arts Festival 2025

About the Festival

Presented by Bhutan Echoes under the royal patronage of Her Majesty the Queen Mother Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck, the 14th edition of Drukyul’s Literature & Arts Festival (DLAF) honors the visionary ideals of His Majesty the Great Fourth King Jigme Singye Wangchuck.

The 2025 festival theme, “The Great Fourth’s Wisdom of Balance: Harmonizing Heritage, Nature, and the Human Spirit,” celebrates Bhutan’s holistic philosophy of Gross National Happiness (GNH) — inviting global thinkers, artists, and creators to explore how cultural and ecological balance can shape a better future.

Supporting Bhutan Echoes is part of BTCL’s wider effort to nurture Bhutan’s cultural ecosystem. We recognize that stories shape societies, and through our CSR efforts, we aim to ensure that literature, oral heritage, and artistic expression continue to thrive in modern Bhutan.

We are honored to contribute toward a platform that uplifts Bhutanese voices and connects them with the world.
